Art Nouveau in Brussels Guided Tour
A full day event
Our tour will include a gentle walk in Sint-Gillis/Elsene viewing Art Nouveau houses, guided by Tamara Engels, PhD in Art History and Archeology (our guide in Schoonselhof last year). We will have lunch at Les Fils a Maman, followed by a visit to the Horta Museum (Art Nouveau stained glass, mosaics and furnishings) the former home and studio of Victor Horta (1861-1947).
Our itinerary for the day:
- 10:30 AM tour of 12 houses over 2.5 km
- 12:30 Lunch at Les Fils a Maman
- 2:00 Guided tour of Horta Museum
- 3:30 End of tour
This event complements May’s monthly speaker on Art Nouveau, giving us beautiful examples of architecture and design by the greatest names associated with the style.
Where: Our tour will start in front of the Horta Museum, Rue Américaine 25.
Time: 10:30 AM
Cost: €35 per participant to cover the cost of our guide and lunch. In addition, each participant will be individually responsible for transportation to and from the Horta Museum and the entry fee to the museum (€10/€6 for seniors).
Getting there: A group of us will be taking the train from Antwerp Central to Brussels Zuid and back, leaving Antwerp shortly after 9 AM and returning at 5:15. If you would like to join us, simply buy your own ticket. Also, there is a short bus ride from Brussels Zuid to the Horta Museum on a De Lijn bus. If you have any type of De Lijn “abonnement” or “10 rittenkaart”, you can use it for your bus fare. Otherwise, you pay the driver €3 each way.
A few days before our tour, you will receive final details of our departure time and meeting place in Antwerp Central.
If you prefer to travel to Brussels by car, that’s good too. There is a parking garage at Rue du Page 57/Edelknaapstraat 57, 300 m from the Horta Museum.

Payment: Transfer €35 per participant to the ABIW account, mentioning your name(s) and “Art Nouveau”. The deadline for both registration and payment is Tuesday May 7th. Receipt of payment confirms your booking.
Notes: Group size is limited to 15. Priority will be given to members and their partners.
No photography in the Horta Museum is permitted.
