Community Help Service 24-hour help line	The CHS provides professional counselling services to the English-speaking community in Belgium. It deals with a wide range of problems: children's learning difficulties, parenting problems, drug and alcohol addiction, depression, acute distress, behavioural change, marital and family difficulties. The HELP LINE is a 24-hour crisis and information telephone service, staffed by volunteers who are trained and supervised by the professional members of the CHS staff. Web site Tel: 02 648 40 14

	Belgacom Telephone	Free phone calls: Belgacom offer a "Happy Time International" calling plan where, for a one-time set-up fee of €5, you can call one country of your choice for free after 17:00 and at weekends. Calls to your selected country at other times cost €1, irrespective of duration. See their web site for more details. Dutch, French and English.
	Telenet	Only in Dutch.
	City Call Belgium	Dutch and French.
	Tele2	A cheaper alternative to Belgacom. Web site only in Dutch.
	Scarlet	Another alternative to Belgacom offering cheaper calls and ADSL connection. At the moment, only their corporate section is in English, otherwise Dutch and French.
	Skype	Skype is not Belgian, of course, but if you have a broadband connection you should certainly consider installing it. It will save you heaps of money - or allow you to chat longer!

	Infobel	Directory enquiries in English.
	Golden Pages	Yellow pages in English for finding numbers and other useful stuff.
	Electricity
	Electrabel	Belgium's main and formerly only supplier.
	Luminus	A cheaper alternative but their web site is only in Dutch or French.
	Note: Gas and electricity meters are read by a company called Eandis. Regrettably their web site is only in Dutch or French.
	Gas
	IGAO	The network owner.
	Water

	TV, Cable	There are various cable companies, although they each seem to enjoy a monopoly in their own region.
	Integan	Web site only in Dutch but they do offer BBC 1 and 2, besides the usual BBC World, CNN, etc. They seem to have the monopoly in the Antwerp area.
	Belgacom	Belgacom has also now entered the digital tv market via wi-fi connection. However, there are no British national companies, only BBC World.
	TV programmes	There are 2 very good sites for finding out what's on the box: Skynet and TVGids

	Belgacom/Skynet	The site has been recently updated to include excellent pages in English. Those of you with a Belgacom account can now find out how to use your web space at http://selfcare.belgacom.net/index.html
