Summer Lunch, June 2nd

For the summer lunch 2009, we returned again to the Rivierenhof Castle in Deurne which makes the perfect summer venue.

After a fairly miserable beginning to the summer, the Belgian weather came up trumps, offering us perfect blue skies and sunshine.

The lunch started with the usual aperitifs and "hapjes".

Catching up Listening
And that gave plenty of time for talking . . . and listening
more listening  After purchasing our raffle tickets, we then moved outside onto the terrace, enjoying apéritifs and canapés and basking in the glorious warmth.

A good opportunity for people watching.

Waiting for lunch We then moved inside for lunch. As usual, the group of ladies sat at two long tables in a dining room overlooking the leafy park.

During the main course, the raffle was drawn. The money collected went to the children's home, "De Kleine Vos", in Borgerhout where Sister Isabella works.

Some people were luckier than others.

Almost everyone won something and more

Laughter all round

Right: Sadly it was time to say farewell to two of our members and in particular to one of our co-chairs, Janet, who had done so much for ABIW. We presented her with a thank-you present from the club.
