In the Handschoenmarkt is a memorial recently donated by Toyota to the fictional character Nello.

Although barely known in Belgium, this story is very popular in the far east. You can read more about it on Wikepedia.

In the Vlaekensgang.

A typical 16th century door which is in 2 halves. The inhabitants used to gossip over the half-opened door.

A close-up of the lock which enabled the inhabitant to find it easily when returning in the dark.

The cellars were also used as storage rooms by non-residents, hence the steps to the outside.
