Agnes Smart is the last surviving founder member of ABIW, or the British
and Commonwealth Women's club as it was known then.
She now lives with her mother and it is too far from Antwerp for her
to attend meetings.
It had been on the club agenda to organise a visit to her for a long
time. We regularly send her birthday and Christmas greetings.
Our long-standing membership secretary, Christine, (in the centre of
the photo) and Zoe, another long-standing member, at long last took the
plunge to visit her. Christine's husband nobly drove them there.
They had a delightful lunch together and caught up on all the club
news.
Agnes's daughter made them both very welcome and it is hoped that we
can visit her again. |
